THE HEADLINES  FACULTY OF TECHNOLOGY PROGRESSES IN JAW WAR  ZIK HALL EMERGES AS INTERHALL COMPETITION OVERALL WINNER  CONVOCATION AND FOUNDER’S DAY CEREMONY BEGINS  STUDENTS’ UNION EXECUTIVES MEET THE UNIVERSITY MANAGEMENT  AMES ORGANIZES WEAKEST LINK  ‘WE ARE WORKING ON GIVING UITES THE BEST EVER STUDENT UNION WEEK’, SAYS HUNTERSOLA THE NEWS IN FULL

FACULTY OF TECHNOLOGY PROGRESSES IN JAW WAR: The rebirth University Central of of the Ibadan Literary and Debating Society’s public speaking event otherwise known as Jaw war witnessed Faculty of Technology move to the next round of the contest, at the expense of Faculty of Education. The debatecompetition displayed the public speaking talents among students of the University of Ibadan. Other results in the Faculty category showed that, Faculties of Law have all qualified for the next round of the Faculty category. In the Halls of Residence category; Idia hall, Tedder hall, Bello hall, Indy hall, Mellanby hall and Alexander Brown hall have all moved to the next round of the competition. Kuti, Queen Elizabeth, Awo and Zik Halls of residence have all bowed out of the debate contest. These programs took place at the First Bank building, faculty of Agriculture on Thursday, 6th of November and Friday, 7th of November, 2014.

ZIK HALL EMERGES AS INTERHALL COMPETITION OVERALL WINNER: After a long time in the wilderness of past glory, the great Nnamdi Azikiwe Hall has once again proven the third stanza of her Hall’s anthem, “…Undisputed UI’s sports king…” this came after it was declared that they had topped the medals table thirteen with gold medals. Mellanby Inter Hall competition two time champion, two goals to Inter Hall started on 30th ended November, closing had various dignitaries in the University of Ibadan.

CONVOCATION AND FOUNDER’S DAY CEREMONY BEGINS: Hall won the football by beating consecutive Bello one. Hall, The competition Thursday, of on in October and the 2014. 6th of The ceremony attendance The annual convocation and founder’s day ceremony of the University of Ibadan kicked off on Friday, 7th of November, 2014 with the Convocation Jumat service which took place at the Central Mosque, University of Ibadan. It thenfollowed with the Convocation Church service at the Chapel of Resurrection, University of Ibadan, on Sunday, 9th of November, 2014. The weeklong Convocation ceremony would continue on Tuesday, 11th of November, 2014 Convocation with Lecture the titled “Federalism, Democracy and the Future of Nigeria”, which would be delivered by the current Governor of Osun State, Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola and would hold at Trenchard Hall, University of Ibadan.

STUDENTS’ UNION EXECUTIVES MEET THE UNIVERSITY MANAGEMENT: A meeting between the Student Union executives and the University management was conducted at the Student Council Chambers on Friday, 7th of November, 2014. The meeting was aimed at informing the University management about the challenges students are facing on Campus and how these challenges would be put to a halt. The Student Union president, Mr Oluwafemi Odesola presented the key points, which were; the present state of the Halls of residence, privileges for sport men and women, the Student Union week, adequate transportation measures and state of electricity on Campus.

AMES ORGANIZES WEAKEST LINK: A local version of the popular television game show, BBC’s “Weakest Link” was staged in Material Science Lab, former Faculty building, Faculty of Technology on Wednesday, 5th of November, 2014 by the Association of Mechanical Engineering Students. The event which is aimed at fostering a good relationship between students of Mechanicrepresentatives from each level, apart from 400 level due to their compulsory participation in the second semester Industrial training. A two hundred level student, in person of Olaniyi Toheeb, won this edition of the game show. ‘

WE ARE WORKING ON GIVING UITES THE BEST EVER STUDENT UNION WEEK’ SAYS HUNTERSOLA: In an interview with Strictly UI, the Student Union president, Mr Oluwafemi Odesola aka Huntersola gave Uites his word, that his administration is working on giving Uites the best ever Student Union Week. He also disclosed that His administration has been having issues with abysmal power supply and inadequate water supply on Campus. He also revealed that they have had various dialogues with the University management as to how best challenges on Campus can be solved. On a lighter note, when he was asked how he handles advances from ladies, he replied by saying the following; “I am a husband and a boyfriend to every girl in the school, no one is closer to me than the other. But once you are pregnant, I don’t know what to do!” Neverthelessal Engineering, across all levels, had representatives from each level, apart from 400 level due to their compulsory participation in the second semester Industrial training.
