IVORY ROYALS VISIT CHARITY HOME

 

University Of Ibadan’s Ivory Royals, on Friday, visited Seed of Charity Home, a school for children with special needs in Orogun.

The entourage, which included Mr UI, Miss UI, Mr Indy, Mr AFAS, Mr FASSA, Miss FATSSA, Mr Zik, the First Prince, the Second Prince, the First Princess, the Second Princess left the campus premises in two vehicles at exactly 2:48 pm.

Upon reaching the school, at 3:00 pm, the UI delegates were warmly welcomed by the enthusiastic students and teachers.The school director of Seed of Charity Home, Mr. Oluwafemi Opadola thanked the guests for coming.

He enlightened them on the school’s objectives. He said: “The management of this school believes everyone has a purpose in life. Although they may challenge they can still learn useful things in life”.

Mr. UI, Nimiloluwa Onipede, gave a speech in which he expressed hope that UI students’ presence would bring joy to the hosts. Following was a presentation by the students which turned to a dance event.

Gifts worth of N14,000 were presented to the students alongside a cash of N11,000 in an envelope.

 

TENSION MOUNTS AIR IN FACULTY OF LAW AS ELECTION DRAWS NEAR

The election is one of the most controversial and most keenly competed one in the history of the faculty because the aspirants have distinguished themselves and are known to be worthy in character and in learning.

Out of the 8 executive positions; the offices of the president, vice-president, and welfare secretary is still the most controversial.

The office of the welfare secretary has a 200 level and 400 level student contesting; the office of the vice president has two contestants, who are known to be diligent in their ways.

Office of the president that has 3 contestants from the same class; students of high repute and have won a good number ofmedals for the 400 level class.

Mr. Kolawole Oluwole also known as New dawn; Mr. Victor Kuforiji also known as Vektorlaw; Miss Opeyemi Adeleke, Raise the bar. Although the students have their own candidate, many are at a crossroads, confused about who to vote for.

The electoral committee has slated the election for Wednesday, the manifesto night will be on Tuesday evening.

May the best candidate win.

 

BILATERAL ORATORY COMPETITION: UI PLAYS DEFEATS UNIVERSITY OF GHANA

The University of Ibadan, on Thursday, 11 June, 2015, defeated the University of Ghana, Legon 71-70 in a bi-lateral debate competition. The topic debated on was ‘Sino-African relationship: a new form of colonialism?’

The University of Ibadan took the affirmative response while the University of Ghana argued the negative effects. This took place after the football match and sporting events that were held at UI stadium.

The athlete where convened to the venue of the debate, which was the First Bank building at the Faculty of Agriculture.

Meanwhile, Tedder Hall literary and debating society organised its annual oratory contest tagged “King of the Podium”, featuring freshmen who are residents of the hall.

On Saturday, the University of Ibadan sport council organised a dinner at the swimming pool arena to end the series of event that has occurred between the two giant schools in the sub-Sahara Africa.

THEATRE ARTS INITIATION WEEK COMMENCES

Students of Theatre Arts of the University of Ibadan, on Sunday, the 14th of June, toured the halls on campus where they made known the commencement of the annual initiation week.

They sang, danced, and performed several acrobatics, as a way of letting the other students know what to anticipate during the week.

The activities include symposium that cut across all aspects of Theatre art from the literary, media and speech which will also assist the students in English, communication and language arts and linguistics and African language studies students.

The essence of initiation week is to build into the initiates the act of discipline and to entertain the audience.

For the 41st initiation ceremony chief priests will be Prof Ojo Rasaki and Dr Kola Oyewo and chief priestess will be Ireti Osayemi.
