Poetry

(I come as a voice caged in whispering riddles…)

How I love you
(For Tolu and Kemi Ogunlesi)

How can I not write of you?
Thoughts of you
Open windows of the heart,
Creaky panes of passion

I do love you freely
Like the even wind
Blowing without restraint
The smell of mid-air roses is lost
In the fragrance of your heart

I love you without restraint
Like seeds caught in the stream,
Braving journeys of lingering seasons

Jaja Clinic Drive
Hands dipped in long pockets of words,
A forlorn poet
Strolls past clinical passages
In search of morphia verses:

“My life wants no Oscars;
The cheery moments
Live in crypts of memories,
And I have no subtitle for solitude”
