NO CABS TO TECH YET!

Michael’s pockets vomit #200 on private cabs everyday since he was chased out of the University hostels by the management’s inconsiderate policies. Since 2013, his financial status in terms of allowances has not changed status quo. His parents still can NOT afford more than #10,000 in a month. In fact, on a couple of occasions the straw that will shatter the camel’s back had risen. His parents advising him to withdraw from school. Michael’s income of a meagre #10,000 will leave him to half of his allowance in a whole month! Materials, Textbooks, Practicals, Feeding and other money-consuming activities must be suspended for him to receive lectures at the Faculty of Technology. Or Michael will have to subject himself to trekking the Egypt-Canaan journey to Tech if he has to eat and do other things. This is a scenario where management plays it’s part in alleviating the burden borne by the populace. And a balance is struck in the process. Since 2013, when the Senate of the Premier University decided to make accommodation in the halls of residence seem as an entry into the White House to see Barack Obama, a huge percentage of the students got packing out of school. The new policy disallowed cooking in rooms and allowed only fresh year and final year students into rooms. These unfair rules compelled men like Michael to seek greener pastures in the streets of Agbowo and it’s environs, where one can not only put a huge saw to the feeding costs but also cook good meals for comfortable consumption. Unfortunately, in Tech’s case, Paul is being robbed to unknowingly pay Peter, in both cash and kind. Now that the University has done it’s part in making lives unbearable, it is unbearable to have students’ leaders being redundant on matters concerning our welfare. It is he who wears the under-sized shoes that know where it pinches. However, those who wear shoes too should of mere reasoning, imagine the pain that comes with it. Adedokun Oluyinka and his cabinet announced to all that there are now public cabs to convey students from UI gate to Tech. Well, sequel to our findings, there are yet to be workable means of transportation to that effect. In fact, it jingled strange in the ears of cab men that were challenged of their refusal to heed to the ‘supposed’ instruction from the authorities on which our Dear President reported the news. If it’s a means to make us happy or a medium to feign hardwork in the sight of Techites or an incomplete task on their part. Nobody knows. Nobody cares! All we clamour for are results lifting the yoke on our necks. Asides the usual Awo bus that drops on the Tech juncture leaving techites to climbing the sloppy roads to lecture rooms, we are yet to see cabs moving to Tech. We are yet to see a difference in the movement! Dear Adok, the welfare of your citizenry is your major purpose of serving in that capacity! We are still fed up of the sleeping state of the Faculty. It is terrible if you can not solve this problem! Michael is agonisingly anticipating the presence of these cabs you talked about, should you render him to trekking miles to receive lectures OR put a halt to other areas of his life for lectures? Sir, No Cabs to Tech Yet!
