Hello, everyone!

NASELS Press Organisation wishes to wish you a happy resumption even though this felicitation seem to come a couple of weeks late but given the situation of things around the faculty, there may have been little we might have done… only if we might have liked to publish for the proverbial lizards and wall geckos.

All the same, we say a very big welcome to yet another second semester, always full of fun and sometimes lesser work than the usual work that bombards the first semesters. Of course, there is a lot of importance attached to any second semester as this is the semester that determines the almighty CGPA of the session. One can correct first semester mistakes and at the same time shake the legs of an already sturdy one.

Anyway, let’s drop formalities and talk practicalities… fellow Uites, fellow Afasites, fellow Naselsites, if you don’t want your precious CGPA to be sucked with a straw, please and please, heed the few lines of advice we have for you. As the movies suggest, you can avoid vampires by applying what they cannot abide, like garlic in your blood or holy water on your body. Even if these are mere fantasies, such seemingly simple precautions can also help you battle CGPA suckers.

First, know your priorities. Your primary aim in school is to study. Never forget this. Attend classes, never take any test or assignment for granted. Do all of them and do them well keeping in mind that just a mark separates a carry over and a pass, a distinction and a credit and so on. Be focused, know what you want and take steps to get it. Please, do not allow distractions to get in the way. Never shun help rather seek it and get it by all means possible. There will be tutorials and discussions. Attend them and gain from them. Read all notes thoroughly and get additional information from online. Be studious.

Second, don’t become the Jack or Jane that works too hard and becomes the dull person. Be social. There are a lot of activities embedded in second semesters and you can participate in them. Help with the organisation of events will always be needed for these programmes. Be a volunteer, build up yourself and know how things are done. Compete, party, play, be useful since you never can tell where and when these skills and knowledge you have acquired on campus will come in handy later in life. Personality lectures, dinners, workshops – just name it – Be involved.

Again, it is expedient that you know your limits. Plan your time and activities well. Do not allow one activity to disturb another. You should know your priorities and work accordingly towards achieving them. Don’t be carried away by the multitude of campus activities to the detriment of your studies. As too much work makes Jack a dull boy, so also does too much play make Jane a duller girl. Be wise.

Don’t forget to eat and rest. These are important for an active brain. Junk is not advisable. Try as much as possible to eat well- breakfast, most importantly. Do not over work yourself. A healthy body is very important to fight off CGPA suckers and their inhuman strength. Be in shape.

And don’t forget the holy water and the cross… God is important in warding off the evil vampires. Be prayerful.

With all these guidelines, we believe you can be the winner. And as many awareness banners have been saying, do have a hitch free semester!
