AWO HALL ESCAPES FIRE OUTBREAK

In the evening of October 1, 2015, an alarm was raised by several residents of the D Block of Obafemi Awolowo hall, as a fire started in one of the kitchenettes.

Although the exact cause was unknown, the fire was likely to have been started by some of the cooking being done in the kitchenette.

A larger incident was however averted by the thoughtfulness of some of the residents who attempted to use the strategically located fire extinguishers along the corridors.  To their benefit as well as surprise, the extinguishers were functioning properly, and thus, the fire was quelled before it could escalate into a more serious one.
