Just this last week, his debut album was released and it debuted on number one on iTunes Nigerian album chart.

The 23-year-old, Obafemi Awolowo University graduate and YBNL’s burning star, Fireboy Dallas has released what may go down as the biggest and most important sonic project from a Nigerian in 2019 after Burnaboy’s African Giant.

Laughter, Tears & Goosebumps, currently sits atop Rena’s Bad Commando, Zlatan’s Zanku (Zlatan Abeg No Kill Us), and even the most hyped album of the year Davido’s Good Time which was a few days prior to the official release Fireboy DMLl’s album. 

In Laughter, Tears & Goosebumps, Adedamola Adefolahan aka Fireboy DML serenades his lover in a manner strong enough to carry her into the sensuous realm of romance and as well with the coolness and heat-induced by eloquent expression of affection to give both his lover and listener goosebumps. Nigerian music ace Olamide praises his songwriting on the album in his tweet.

According to the YBNL boss, the artiste exhibited a mastery of language beyond his age. He jokingly added that Fireboy might have lied to everyone about his age as many footballers do.

Generally, the album features no guest artiste which also heightens the urge amongst some of his ardent supporters to crown him the best Afro-pop songwriter of the year. The album which contains a total of thirteen tracks has placed him in the echelon of first-class musicians in Nigeria.

There is a fantastic sonic hybrid of Wande Coal (whom the artiste has cited as his favorite Nigerian music star) and Adekunle Gold. Laughter, Tears & Goosebumps alongside the extended plays(EP) released by Rema and Joeboy respectively has marked the dawn of the new era of music performers that will disrupt the monopoly of Wizkid and Davido as the two major acts and exports from Nigeria.

Another remarkable part of the album is its album art which looks similar to that of Joeboy’s EP, Light & Love. Some ardent Nigerian music followers claim that the occurrence was not coincidental rather a marketing strategy to inspire the comparison of the two artiste in order to sustain their fame just like Wizkid and Davido ‘s constant comparison has kept the two shining with the brightness of each other’s shadow.
