As part of her convocation events, the University of Ibadan organized the 2019 research development fair, themed “Societal need driven research for national development,” at the International Conference Centre, University of Ibadan on Tuesday 5th, and Wednesday 6th of November. The yearly program which was established by the Senate of the University is aimed at contributing to local and global development through innovation.
Speaking on the first day of the event was the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Idowu Olayinka, who was represented by the Deputy Vice Chancellor Research and Development, he stated that such event as this would ” Help Students in the University to focus on their research works in order to provide solutions to societal problems, and not just writing projects to earn grades only,” hence, the coalition of the town and gown is essential for a positive societal transformation.
The Director General of the National Association of Chambers of Commerce, Industry, Mines and Agric, Ayo Olukanni emphasized on the need to develop the country using the most important resources, which according to him is the human resource.
Followed by this on the 6th of November was the exhibition of innovative researches by Students of the University.
