Grace to Grass: Egypt Head Coach sacked, FA Chief resigns after shock AFCON exit

The head coach of Egypt Javier Aguirre and his backroom staff has reportedly been sacked after the Pharaohs were eliminated from the ongoing 2019 African Cup of Nations. Likewise, the president of the Egyptian football federation Abou-Rida has resigned from his post after the shocking round of 16 exit in front of the home crowd.

Egypt put in a lackluster performance, as the Bafana Bafana of South Africa recorded a famous victory at the Cairo International stadium on Saturday, thanks to Thembinkosi Lorch’s 85th-minute strike.

Egypt struggled to create chances, with their best two openings of the game both being squandered by Trezeguet, while Liverpool’s Mohamed Salah was largely kept quiet.

The dream of winning the 8th African Cup of Nations title on home soil however crumbled before their own eyes. Disappointing!
