During a visit of the Proprietor of Dominion University and Presiding Bishop of Rehoboth Cathedral, Bishop Taiwo Adelakun, to the University of Ibadan, after the NUC approval of Dominion University, the Vice Chancellor of University of Ibadan, Prof. Abel Idowu Olayinka had registered displeasure on the attitude of staff and students of the University that run down the integrity of the institution saying “all these negative comments go a long way in de-marketing the prestigious image of University of Ibadan”, according to a release by the media aide, Sunday Saanu.

He wondered “why the institution is still being rated the best University in Nigeria by the National Universities Commission (NUC) if indeed we are as bad as they are negatively portraying us”.

He affirmed that it is true “we have some challenges here and there”, speaking further that “we are addressing them. That does not therefore give people freedom to be going into the media and be running down the University with uncomplimentary statements and remarks”.

“Our people must know that the world has become a global village. All these negative comments are being recorded against all of us across the globe. And anytime we show up and say we are from UI, the world will confront us with all the negative impression we’ve created for ourselves”, he said.
