A borehole sunk around the first gate of the University of Ibadan has donated by the Contractors of the Institution – Debson Engineering Company Limited.
This was disclosed by the Media Aide of the Vice Chancellor, Mr. Sunday Saanu on Thursday, April 18, 2019
During the commissioning of the borehole donated by one of the contractors, Mr. Adebowale Abass, the Vice Chancellor, Professor Idowu Olayinka said “UI’s needs were many which could not be left for government alone or University to solve, hence the need for everyone to support the University in whatever capacity.”
He further called upon all Nigerians to see the institution as national asset, and that assistance should be made to the University with donations so that the it would continue to sustain its outstanding academic record.
He commented that the assistance of the contractor was not mandatory “because his mission is to do business and succeed, but being a kind-hearted individual, he saw a problem and provided a solution”.
He further said that “It is in the light of this that I called on other privileged Nigerians to come to the aid of the university with donations and benefactions. We shall gladly receive any assistance from benevolent Nigerians and appreciate the gesture because UI belongs to all Nigerians and it requires everybody’s support”.
Mr. Adebowale, the donor and contractor of Debson Engineering Company Limited made it known that his company “believed in the principle of Corporate Social Responsibility which obligates one to give back into the system which one has benefited, promising that he would not relent in doing more.
