The Union of Campus Journalists, University of Ibadan expresses its shock and grief at the kidnapping of its legal adviser – Barrister Musibau Adetunmbi.

Barrister Musibau – a senior lawyer and philanthropist based in Ibadan was kidnapped at Iwaraja, along along Ilesha-Akure Road in Osun State on Monday and confirmed to journalists in Ibadan on Tuesday evening by the Chairman of the Ibadan branch of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) – Dr. Oluwole Akintayo as reported by The Sun.

According to the same source, it was gathered “Adetunmbi was traveling on Monday to Ondo State to appear in a matter he had in Akure, Ondo State for Tuesday morning when the incident happened.”

“He was in the car with his driver and other team members when his vehicle was ambushed by suspected kidnappers. Other team members were asked to alight, while they ferried him and his driver to an unknown destination,” the force continued.

Further reports establish the fact the highway has been notorious for kidnapping and no link of any sort has been established with any family member or like by the kidnappers.

With the facts from above, the Union of Campus Journalists, University of Ibadan hereby urges the state security force to deploy every arsenal of safety recovery mechanism at its disposal and help facilitate his safe return earnestly. Besides him being a citizen of the country whose safety and security should be of utmost concern to the government, he is a senior advocate on his way to discharge his duties to the public and thus the government owe him absolute security.

The Union of Campus Journalists, University of Ibadan is also willing to cooperate and assist (in anyway it can) with all agencies and bodies committed to rescuing a safe and sound Barrister Adetunmbi Musibau.

Owing to the lack of effective reportage in many quarters, UCJ UI has decided to create a #trend on Twitter for Barrister Musibau Adetunmbi @ #RescueBarristerAdetunmbi

Kindly contribute your little widow’s mite by joining in creating this awareness.

Thank you and God bless!
