WINDSTORM CAUSES UI TO CHANGE INAUGURAL LECTURE VENUE

By OLAYIWOLA Toheeb

Consequent to the windstorm of Saturday, 9th March, 2019, the University of Ibadan has changed the venue for her 454th inaugural lecture.
The lecture titled “Addicted to Challenge: Man, Microbes and the Quest for Energy” to be delivered by Professor Onilude which was earlier scheduled to hold at Trenchard Hall but was shifted to CBN lecture theatre because of the windstorm that damaged facilities in the University including Trenchard Hall will now hold at the University’s International Conference Centre.
According to a statement signed by Mrs. Olubunmi Faluyi, the Registrar of the University, the change in venue is as a result of the recent windstorm that affected Trenchard Hall.
The statement reads “The University community and the general public is hereby notified that the 454th Rescheduled Inaugural lecture scheduled to take place on Thursday 14th March, 2019 can not hold in the Trenchard Hall due to the windstorm of Saturday 9th March which affected the hall. The lecture, and possibly a few subsequent ones in the series shall now be held in INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE CENTRE (ICC) at the usual time.”
The inaugural lecturer — a former Dean of the Faculty of Science — is from the Department of Microbiology and will be delivering the lecture on behalf of the faculty of science on the 14th March, 2019.
