On July 10th and 11th 2018, the hall management in her mission to heighten security in the hall and block off all porous entrances directed attention to the fence around the basketball court area. The fence around this area which is directly beside the University bookshop before then was so low that scaling the fence into and out of the hall was relatively quite easy. This posed quite a significant security challenge as any stranger could come into and out of the hall via this means unnoticed, seeing as this area was most times always quiet.
However, on Tuesday and Wednesday, some masons took to work there adding two extra layers of brick to make the previously low fence taller and significantly more difficult for any infiltrator to come into the hall through it. This has been regarded by many as a much welcome development as it shows the management’s concern towards ensuring security in the hall and bringing theft cases to the barest minimum.
