MELLANBY HALL WINS INTER-HALL HANDBALL COMPETITION

Kenneth Mellanby Handball Sports Team has brought honour to the premier hall by winning the handball category of sports competition hosted by the Sport Council, University of Ibadan.  The handball finals took place on Friday, June 29th, at the SUB handball court (known as basketball court) where the premier hall went victorious against Nnamdi Azikiwe Hall (Zik) Handball Squad, by a goal of 3 to 2.

According to Mr. Julius, one of the handball players, Zik Hall had been winning by 2 goals at the first half but “with luck by our squad, we won 3-2 in the second half. I don’t know what to say. I am just happy.”

Kenneth Mellanby had knocked Abdulsalam Abuabar Hall and Sultan Bello Hall out of the tournament at the group stage to meet with Kuti Hall at the semi-final where both teams drew until they shot penalty and Mellanby Hall won by a goal of 2 to 1.

Asides the handball contest, Kenneth Mellanby Hall partook in the basketball tournament, where the Hall came fourth after been unfortunately knocked out by Kuti Hall by a score of 23 to 31.

The Sports Minsiter, Mr. Prospect, however encouraged Mellanbites to focus on their studies. “To Mellanbites, I will plead for everyone to get serious with their studies as exams is fast approaching and we won’t want a repeat of last year’s failure.”, he said.

  • Kenneth Mellanby also won gold at Takwaendo, as stated by the Sport Minister.
