Following the heavy downpour earlier this week, motorists and pedestrians in the University of Ibadan have been finding it quite difficult to find their way around some areas within the school premises. This is as a result of the collapse of some road direction boards in the university.
As at the time of this report, two unique direction boards, we have gathered, have already collapsed leaving pedestrians and motorists to engage their discretion to determine the right route as they make their way to their various destinations. The direction board at the roundabout junction opposite the administrative building had finally given way to the heavy blow of the wind. Following suit without thinking twice is the direction board at the start of technology road beside the department of Chemistry.
You would recall that the collapsed direction board at the roundabout junction opposite the administrative building was once a pointer to the routes leading to Tedder hall, Mellanby hall, UI hotels, Ajibode/Abadina road, Catholic church, Chapel, SUB and many more important areas within the university.
This collapse is however not coming as a surprise to many students of the university especially after beholding the damage done to the roof tops of the Students’ Union Building and Block C wing of Lord Tedder Hall few days after the incessant increase in the accommodation fees by over 100% earlier last month.
