The University of Ibadan recently announced the matriculation ceremony for her fresh students to hold on Friday, May 4, at the International conference Centre by 10:00am. A 1981 Alumnus and Chief Executive of Stanbic IBTC Bank PLC, Dr. Demola Sogunle is said to give the matriculation lecture with the title, “START WELL AND FINISH WELL”, at the event.
The information was revealed in a statement released on Monday evening by the Vice Chancellor, Prof. A. I. Olayinka on his Facebook account, while reiterating the Senate’s decisions last Friday.
Meanwhile, many have taken to the comment section of the VC’s post to commend him on the choice of the respected business leader and mentor, as the 2017/2018 matriculation lecturer; saying that he would serve as a great motivation for the newly admitted students.

Dr Demola Sogunle is currently the chief Executive of Stanbiblc IBTC Bank PLC, Prior to assuming this role in January 2017, he was the Deputy Chief Executive of the Bank from December 2015.
Demola was also the Chief Executive of Stanbic IBTC Pension Managers Limited, the largest pension fund administrator (PFA) in Nigeria in terms of customer base and assets under management. A position he held for 4 and a half years before assuming the role of Deputy Chief Executive of Stanbic IBTC Bank PLC.
Demola has a wealth of banking experience spanning over two decades in credit and marketing, project finance, global markets, risk management and compliance. Until his appointment in 2011 as Chief Executive of Stanbic IBTC Pension Managers Limited, he was the Group Head of Risk and Chief Compliance Officer of Stanbic IBTC Bank PLC. A position he held from November 2007 to August 2011.
He also served as the Treasurer of Stanbic IBTC Bank PLC, a position he held between February 2000 and November 2007.
Demola holds a First Class Honours degree in Agricultural Science and a Ph.D. in Land Resource Evaluation and Management, both from the University of Ibadan, Nigeria. He is an alumnus of Harvard Business School, AMP. He also holds an MBA in Banking and Finance from ESUT Business School, Nigeria and a Treasury Dealership Certificate from the Chartered Institute of Bankers of Nigeria (CIBN). He is a member of the Global Association of Risk Professionals.
