UCJ INDUCTION TRAINING WORKSHOP

The 28th Induction exercise for prospective members of the Union of Campus Journalists (UCJ) started on Wednesday 22nd October 2015 at the Tedder Hall Senior Common Room. The Induction exercise tagged “The Importance of Journalism; Campus Journalism as a Starting Point’’ was meant to acquaint and equip intended members with the basics of campus journalism. Veteran journalists were invited for the programme to discuss the tits and bits of campus journalism from different perspectives. Some of the speakers present were Mr Tijani Mayowa from The Cable, Mr Jude Akinkuade et al. Some of the issues highlighted were “Campus Journalism and Societal Change’’, “Social Media and Citizen Reporting’’ and a general enlightenment on the committees in UCJ. Questions from participants were also entertained and answered appropriately. The Union held a test on Saturday 25th October 2015 to assess the understanding of inductees on the workshop training as well as on general knowledge in journalism. Inductees with the highest scores in the test, will go on an excursion to media houses in Ibadan on Wednesday 28th October 2015.UCJ
