Teddar hall beat Sultan Bello Hall in the finals of the jaw war which took place at Trenchard hall, University of Ibadan after debating on a topic titled “Religion or Technology is the cause of the world’s crisis” While Faculty of arts beat the Faculty of technology after debating on a topic titled “Approach to Corruption, top to bottom or bottom to top” during the personality lecture organized by the students’ union. Apart from presenting the best speaker for the day with a bed side fridge, the vice chancellor also promised to give all the participants a notebook computer.
The deputy Governor of Oyo state, Chief Moses Alake Adeyemo represented the Governor, Senator Isiaka Abiola Ajimobi who was unavoidably absent to deliver a public lecture titled”21st century unionism, reviewing the past and previewing the future as a tool for national development”
Apart from delivering the public lecture, the deputy governor also promised to support the proposed multipurpose events center with a hundred thousand naira while Chief Adebayo Akande who was the chairman of the day also donated two hundred thousand naira to support the proposed building.
UITES HUSTLE FOR “ASUN”
So many students could not get meat during the Asun night especially the ladies; this was because students were made to go through the stress of catching meat while the distributors threw it to them from Tedder hall balconies. Some students said it was fun that way while so many went back to their halls angry because they didn’t get to eat out of the “asun”. That notwithstanding so many student claimed they had fun that night.
Though the contest which was supposed to start by 4pm did not commence until 8:30pm at the International Conference Centre, University of Ibadan, it recorded a massive attendance of students.
There were 6 male contestants and 6 female contestants for the ivory king and queen, out of which the current Miss Idia (Yetunde Onikote) came out as the Ivory Queen. While the former MR NUESA (Onipede Oluwalonimi) was crowned the Ivory King. The guest artiste at the event was Black Magic.
NASELS PERSONALITY LECTURE
The association of students of English and literary studies (NASELS) Of University Of Ibadan Held Emeritus Prof. Ayo Banjo personality lecture and inter-faculty oratory contest on Saturday the 29th of November 2014 at arts theater, university Ibadan.
The theme of the lecture which was “the tripartite web; history, culture and literature” was delivered by prof. toyin falola of the department of history, university of Texas, Austin, USA.
The event was also to commemorate the only two time vice chancellor (emeritus professor ladipo ayodeji banjos 80th birthday) the inter faculty conteatants where the faculties of art, technology, clinical science and agric. faculty of agric emerged as the winner of inter faculty oratory competition.
FACULTY OF EDUCATION TALENT HUNT/ BEAUTY CONTEST NIGHT
Nigeria universities education student association finalized their faculty week with a warm variety night/ beauty contest. The guest artists at the occasion were dizzy and lepacious Bose. There were 8 contestant for the beauty contest 3 male contestants and 5 female contestants, out of whom Damilare and Heritage came out as the Mr. and Miss NUESA respectively.The event took place at the faculty of education large lecture theatre on Friday 28th November, 2014.
